Our lathe came from a large corporation who had deep pockets so we probably got half the cost of the lathe for free given how much km40 tooling came with it. Kennametal is really proud of their KM40 stuff, so other sources can save you quite a bit. Capto is an easy-to-use app that takes capturing, recording, video and image editing to the next level. I'm not sure what size you would be using, but there is a lot of KM40 stuff on E-Bay. Ai have no experience with Capto tooling.
If you do mostly aluminum you may find the boring bars adequate. Most of our turning is steel- 8620 or HT4140. But normally we keep a few stations open for regular boring bars or an insert drill with a straight shank. We use 1.5" round shank KM40 adapters in our ID tool blocks so they are easy to change out if needed. The only drawback is I've found that 3/4 dia and up boring bars longer than about 1.5' tend to chatter and heavy roughing in steel requires a conventional setup with a bushing in a conventional tool block. Small boring bars work great up to 3 x length. OD turning, grooving and cutoff work as expected, as do insert drills and collet chucks. Capto holders are generally a bit more expensive than HSK holders, all else being equal, so you need to consider that.
